Train and Truck

A short rhyme for sharing and playing, written for this site.

You have the train and I have the truck,Swap when you’re done, and we’re in luck.Round and round the track they go,Playing together, fast and slow.

Why it helps

Telling a two-year-old to share rarely works. This one shows what sharing looks like: two toys, a swap, and the game carrying on.

How to use it

Play the part yourself first. Hold out the truck on “swap” so your child sees the swap before being asked to do it.

Ask your child

  • Which one do you want to drive next?
  • Can the train go slow? Can it go fast?
