Eight Little Legs
A short rhyme for finger play, written for this site.
Eight little legs go tip, tip, tap,Over my shoe and over my cap.Spin a thread and spin it wide,Silver shining, side to side.
Why it helps
Walking fingers are easier than the classic spider’s twisting thumbs, so this one suits children who can’t do that action yet.
How to use it
Walk your fingers over your child’s shoe, then their head. Finish by drawing a big slow line through the air.
Ask your child
- Where should the spider walk next?
- How many legs does a spider have?
