Five Little Bees
A short rhyme for counting time, written for this site.
One little bee on a bright red rose,Two little bees on Grandpa’s nose,Three little bees on a sunny wall,Four little bees, and that’s not all!Five little bees all buzz for tea,Buzz, buzz, buzz! Goodbye from me!
Why it helps
The counting goes up one finger at a time, and Grandpa’s nose gets the laugh early enough to hold a young child until five.
How to use it
Raise one finger per line and land the second bee on the nearest real nose. Swap Grandpa for anyone your child knows.
Ask your child
- Where else could a bee land?
- How many bees are on your hand now?
